THE ELDER COUNCIL DECLARED REGENT

The Imperial City – After the urgent session assembled yesterday morning, which lasted until late hours, the Elder Council issued the following statement:

“By ancient precedent, the Elder Council shall rule the Empire as regent until a new Emperor is crowned. Since no direct heirs survive, and the Council cannot propose a list of candidates in such a short term, the discussion on the subject of succession is delayed until the next session of the Council in full assembly, which can be expected within the following fortnight.”

Interview

Another mission accomplished and another decoration appended to his file, Nihlus walked into the Dark Star with a satisfied smile and an appetite a bit of “normal life” before he was off to the next deadly assignment. He went directly to the bar and ordered a Supernova. It was still early in the evening and the club was comfortably populated by mostly sober men and women of all species, shapes and sizes. Far from empty, but not yet crowded.

He scanned the space for promising faces, sweeping the dance-floor, than the booths lining the far walls, and sure enough, he soon found a woman eyeing him. She was alone, human, pleasing to look at. Resting one elbow on the bar, he beamed at her over the sparkling drink, and she beamed back. Dark hair, dark eyes, a round face and nice, full lips.

A New Elder Scrolls Fic: Last Days of the Third Era

Last Days of the Third Era is a collection of articles from the Black Horse Courier, following the events and reactions after the assassination of Emperor Uriel Septim VII. I started this in 2009, and like so many TES projects, I never finished it. The material I have covers the first two weeks after the assassination, and stops more or less just before the attack on Kvatch. I’d like nothing more than to promise I’ll finish it, but I likely won’t – unless the act of posting it here somehow magically transfers me to the state of mind I’d been in while writing it. Here’s to hoping!

Part 1 of Last Days of the Third Era

EMPEROR AND HEIRS ASSASSINATED

The Imperial City – Emperor Uriel Septim VII was slain last night around midnight in the Imperial Palace. He was stabbed with a dagger through his back, receiving a mortal wound that the court healers could not heal despite all their efforts. The Imperial Guard has seized and executed the assassin on sight, but no information about the identity of the murderer has been released as of yet.
